MONEY AND OTHER THINGS TO CARRY
Personal Expenses in Tibet

  • Indian Rupees are not accepted in Tibet. You will have to take Chinese Yuan which can be exchanged in Nepal on arrival.

What kind of items to carry while travelling?

  • You have to take warm clothes like sweater, trousers, thermo-coat, monkey cap, trekking shoes, high-neck,gloves etc.

What do you provide us for the tour?

  • We provide a Waterproof Windcheater Jacket, a Duffel Bag, a Bag Pack, a Cap and a Passport Holder to every members as a souvenir gift from our company. You do not have to return these items after returning from Kailash.

Can we use Indian Currency in Tibet side?

  • No, the currency that is used in Tibet side is Chinese Yuan. For exchange of Chinese Yuan You can contact us on arrival on Kathmandu.

What sort of clothing and accessories is suggested for the Trip?

  • As the Kailash Mansarovar is at high altitude the climate is cold so it is recommended that you have warm clothes with you, thermo coat, monkey cap, comfort shoes, masks, walking sticks, sunscreen lotions, sun glasses are also recommended accessories for the trip.
     

GROUP SIZE

How many people in each group?

  • Our group size is minimum 25 person for Helicopter and Overland tour. The group can reach 35 – 50 members in  each group but can be more during Full moon trips.

Can we have our own Departure Date and Group?

  • Yes, you can pick your own departure date if your group have more than 20 persons in a group for Helicopter package and 25 persons for Overland Package.

AGE LIMIT

  • Age limit is 69 years old for Indian Passport Holders as per the current rules and regulations. For Non-Indian Passport Holders there is no age limit till date. However, we do not recommend travelers above 80 years old to join for the trip.
     

MOBILE PHONE AT TIBET

Mobile Phone: How to keep in touch with our friend & family during the trip?

Nepali sim card doesn’t work at Tibet side but there will be shops at the phone center on the way to Kailash Yatra. You
can take your mobile with you and buy a sim card there to call your family and relatives.
 

FULL MOON
There are several reasons why yatris choose Full-Moon:

  • Festivals in Tibet happens during Full Moon (especially Saga Dawa Full Moon Festival: the holiest day in Tibetan Buddhism)
  • Full-Moon in Mansarovar: Many Yatris prefer doing puja during the Full Moon (Purnima)
  • Many want to see beautiful view of full moon over Mount Kailash
  • Prefer doing Kora during Full-moon
     

TIBET TRAVEL BUREAU (TTB) & FEC

We are an authorized agent of Foreign Exchange Center of TAR (FEC)

  • FEC (Foreigh Exchange Center of TAR) has a monopoly over the rights to handle travel arrangements & fix rates for the Indian pilgrims in Tibet side.
  • FEC has recently increased rate because of the international petroleum price rises suddenly, US dollar largely depreciation, the cost of domestic labor’s goes up, and commodity prices are rising
  • All arrangements within Tibet are solely at the discretion of the China Tibet Tourism Bureau (TTB) & for Indian nationals, Foreign Exchange Center of TAR (FEC), both are government organizations, and we have no control over the quality of vehicles or facilities.
  • TTB can deny permit or even stop giving permits from time to time. We have seen this in the past.
     

FOOD AND CLOTHING

What type of Food and drink will be provided there at Tibet?

  • The food provided will be hygienic and pure vegetarian. The local water will be provided for drinking water. You can also purchase mineral water bottle at Tibet side.

FITNESS AND HEALTH

What kind of fitness is required?

  • You have to be physically fit for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. It is recommended to get a medical checkupbefore you plan to go for this religious journey. But it is not mandatory that you have to submit the medical checkup certificate. People with back pain may have problem during the trip on the jagged road. People with asthma or allergic to dust are strongly recommended to wear mask on the dusty road. Besides these people are recommended to practice walking and do exercise and yogas for the physical fitness.

Itinerary


Day 1: ARRIVE IN KATHMANDU

Arrival in Kathmandu, meet by our tour officer at the airport. You will be welcome by Rudrakshya Mala and providing complimentary Water Bottle. Then you will transfer to hotel, check in and rest. In the evening, dinner at hotel and you will be inform about your next day tour program by our leader. Optional: If anybody are interested to take an hour Mount Everest Flight on next day morning, should book and confirm with us by this evening. Normally, the flight operates from 6.30 am to 10 am, and you should prepare in the hotel before 1 hour 15 minutes ahead to leave airport for reporting 45 minutes before departure time at least. * Overnight at Hotel (Room on twin sharing basis)

Day 2: SIGHTSEEING TOUR IN KATHMANDU

After breakfast, you will commence sightseeing tour of Pashupatinath Temple (the biggest Hindu temple) and Budhanilkantha temple (the tallest sleeping Vishnu). Lunch in the hotel and rest day at free for the preparation of trip. There will be short briefing program conducted in the hall before dinner around 6 pm along with assistance for money exchange & down jacket distribution. * Overnight at Hotel (Room on twin sharing basis)

Day 3: Drive Kathmandu - Kodari (120 Km / 4 Hr drive)

After breakfast drive to Kodari by bus. The drive to Kodari is not long in distance but the road and traffic conditions can make it tiring and time taking. Upon reaching Kodari stay in a lodge/guesthouse. Dinner and stay at the guesthouse. Hotel: Guest House-Multiple Sharing Distance covered: 140kms, Altitude : 1760 m , Meals Included : Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4: Drive Kodari – Nyalam ( 55 Km / 1 hrs)

After breakfast Drive to the Nepalese border which is about 54 Kms from Kodari. After immigration formalities the group will cross the border on foot to reach China side. The pilgrims are then transferred on their Chinese bus for onward drive to Nyalam (55 Km). We travel in sturdy and comfortable vehicles that are controlled and guided by Tibetans. The accompanying Nepalese Sherpas get into the coaches after loading the food materials water etc and the onward journey into the Tibetan/Chinese region continues toward the town of Nyalam. On arrival, check into room and take rest for today. Overnight stay will be in a guesthouse at Nyalam in dormitory style. Hotel: Guest House-Multiple Sharing Altitude: 3750 m, Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 05: Free day at Nyalam for acclimatization

This day is reserved for rest for acclimatization in Tibet’s tough climate. Our tour manager will assist you for a short Local walking at Nayalam for warming up your body to adjust with Tibet’s high altitude. Also, you can enjoy the day with chanting Bhajan or Katha in the guesthouse. Hotel: Guest House-Multiple Sharing Altitude: 3750 m, Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 06: Nyalam – Saga (235 KM / 4-5Hrs.)

After on enjoyable drive through the mountains terrain and then the plains provides us a marvelous . The yearlong Tsangpo (Brahmaputtra River) is crossed over on, past the turn off for the northern route, and arrive at settlement of Saga (4840m). The landscape gradually changes to the high plains of Tibet, soft beautiful and photogenic.. Stay overnight at guest house. Hotel: Hotel Saga Drive: 235 Km (4 – 5 Hrs. Drive). Altitude: 4640 m Meals: Breakfast, Packed Lunch, Dinner

Day 07: Saga - Lake Manasarovar Via New Dongba (390Km / 9 hrs drive)

We have very important day today as we are heading to the holiest place at Lake Manasarovar. As per above time schedule, our day begins with breakfast at 0730 AM. On the way before Mayumla Pass (4900 m), we take break for permit formalities and for lunch then continue the journey crossing Mayumla pass and Paryang County. You will have very good opportunity to see first glimpse of Mt. Kailash from the shore of Lake Manasarovar. Today we will do a Part Parikrama of Mansarovar Lake by another vehicle (Local vehicle). On the way of Mansarovar Parikrma- Overnight at Guest house at the bank of Lake Mansarovar. You can also see or visit Chiu Gompa Monastery situated in hillock near Guesthouse. Stay in guesthouse in dormitory style. Hotel: Guest House-Multiple Sharing Drive: 390 Km / 9 Hrs. Drive Altitude: 4590 m Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 08: Drive to Darchen

Today Morning – Take holy Dip and perform Puja (prayer ritual) at Mansarovar Lake Later by Evening Drive to Darchen (2 hrs) Hotel: Himalya / Any Chinese Hotel with Attached bath room (Multiple Sharing) Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 9: DRIVE TO YAMADWAR & START KORA TO DERAPHUK (4950 m.)

Here, we start our day to fulfill one of our ultimate desires to complete parikrama of Mt. Kailash. Morning take breakfast in the hotel, then carry your backpack with pack lunch and water bottles, leaving other stuffs in the hotel, we drive upto Yama Dwar. You can see the nearest view of south face of Mt. Kailash feeling blessed by darshan of Lord Shiva & Parbati. Everyone visit Yama Dwar with making three times circular around it, with this it assumes that the pilgrims who cannot go for Kailash Kora will have same blessing from Lord as they did complete kora of Mt. Kailash. At Yama Dwar, the horse and porter will be provided to the pilgrims who booked for trekking around Kailash and they start their Yatra by riding horse and other pilgrims will walk. Again those who are not going for parikrama will stay back in Darchen at hotel where our some staffs will be there to take care of them. The trek is not so difficult today, it is moderate trekking with more plain trekking paths and some of places with short gradual climb. End of the trek feels slight ascent until you reach guesthouse. Once you reach Diraphuk camp, you will forget all your pain due to superb blessing darshan of Mt. Kailash, the north face. This is the best location of whole trip from where you can see the most nearest and almighty view of Mt. Kailash. * Overnight at Guesthouse or Tented Lodge – dormitory room * Darchen to Yama Dwar – 11 km (30 minutes) drive * Yama Dwar to Diraphuk – 18 km (5 hrs) trek

Day 10: CONTINUE TREK TO ZUTHULPHUK (4850 m.) VIA SHIVASTHAL – DOLMA LA - GAURIKUNDA

Your wake up will be at 4.30 am early morning today, then quick fresh up & breakfast. Before sunrise, we start our trek to cross Dolma La at earliest. As yesterday, you should take pack lunch with you and start uphill climb from the beginning of the camp along through view of Shivasthal till steep climb to Dolma La Pass (5600 m.) for 4 to 5 hours. At Dolma La, Buddhists pay homage offering prayer flags, money, clothings, incense sticks etc. After Dolma La, just cross down you will see the holiest lake – Gauri Kunda at your right below and you will cross short glacier level then after couple of hours descends you should trek down very careful the steep downhill to reach teashop. Take short break here for lunch and rest then continue flat trail trekking upto Zuthulphuk camp for 3 hours approximately. * Overnight at Guesthouse or Tented Lodge – dormitory room * Diraphuk to Zuthulphuk (22 km - 9 hours) trek

Day 11: Drive to Saga Via Darchen / New Dongba (390 Km / 9 Hrs. Drive)

This is our last trek day and we have to make short trek about 4-5 hours so we wake up in normal time and begin trekking to descend Darchen town. Our transport will pick up us from the mid way to Darchen, up to where the road is accessible and drive to guesthouse at Darchen where our other groups staying and then take lunch there. Then after, we straight forwards continue our drive to Saga. Stay in a Hotel. Hotel: Saga / Guest House-Multiple Sharing Drive: 8 - 9 Hrs Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Day 12: Drive Saga to Nyalam (245Km / 4–5 Hrs. Drive)

After breakfast we begin our journey towards Nyalam. On the way we pass through the town of Saga, Driving on well pitched roads and mountainous terrain we reach Nyalam for an overnight. Stay in a guest house Hotel: Guest House-Multiple Sharing Drive: 6/7 Hrs. Drive Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 13: Nyalam - Kathmandu (175 km / 6 – 7 hrs. drive)

After breakfast drive from Nyalam towards we walk to the Nepalese immigration control in Nyalam, complete the re-entry formalities and get transferred to our hotel in Kathmandu. This should take about 6- 7 hours by bus. Dinner and night stay will be in the Hotel. Hotel: Tibet/ Holiday inn Express /Similar Distance: 174 kms, Altitude: 1400 m, Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 14: Final departure from Kathmandu

After breakfast you will be transferred to Airport to board your flight back to home. Meals: Breakfast
