China/Tibet portion – A valid passport, visa and a special permit to visit Kailash region is mandatory for all foreign nationals and NRIs (non-resident Indians) willing to undertake Kailash Yatra.
It is strictly advisable and is mandatory to carry a valid Travel Insurance covering the Kailash region. Our trips does not include the price for travel insurance and it is the sole responsibility of the pilgrim/traveler to ensure that he/she is adequately ensured for the full duration of the trip
We require a valid copy of the health certificate of the pilgrims issued by his/her physician mentioning that the pilgrim/traveler is in perfect condition to undertake yatra to Mount Kailash at a height of above 15000 feet. Medical certificates are not the responsibility of ours and we do not take any liability for any health issue.
Casual wear and comfortable walking shoes are recommended to travel to Tibet. Be sure to bring warm clothing as nights and early mornings can be quite chilly to downright cold. Indian woman Pilgrims strictly advisable no Sari. Bring all the film, medicine, cosmetics, personal toilet items etc. that you will need from home as these are difficult or impossible to obtain on the way. A small first aid kit is also a good idea. Also quite useful to have a route map, to know where you are going and have been each day.
Winter wear: Gore-Tex material though good quality is highly recommended. Down jacket, raincoat or windbreakers, thermal under wears, Jackets, warm trousers & woolen shirts (cotton will also do), warm sweaters, woolen gloves, sun hat, sun glass, comfortable shoes, light leather boots in case of snow, woolen balaclava ('monkey cap') & scarf/dust mask to protect your eyes & nose from dust.
Snacks along the way. Chocolates, dry fruit, toffees, glucose; 'namkeen' etc. Strong water bottle & water purifying tablets. Personal medical kit and Diamox tablet (for high altitude). Sunglasses (to protect your eyes from UV, which is especially strong in high altitudes). Sunblock or sunscreen lotion, wet tissues (Fresh-ones are excellent to wipe off the dust), clothes-line/clips, needle & thread, deo-spray (handy for smelly boots/feet and for a round of spray in the toilet tent!), toilet paper, torch & spare batteries, daypack (small shoulder bag), Camera & films, Binocular.
This is one of the toughest high altitude road journeys on earth. You Must be physically fit. Generally patients with asthma & heart problems have a problem acclimatizing to high altitudes. In your interests it is essential you should be examined by your doctor to know about your health condition and your ability to cope up with the rigors of high altitude travel for days in 'no road' conditions, extreme cold, dust, trekking to an altitude of 19500 ft during the Parikrama, etc.
As you are traveling over high terrain, you are likely to experience symptoms and discomfort of altitude sickness (headache, loss of appetite, nausea, exhaustion, sleeplessness, breathlessness etc.) until your body adjusts to the elevation. This can take a couple of days or more depending on an individual. For this reason alone, we have made it mandatory to stay 2 nights at Kayrong (2700m) before moving on to the higher altitudes. Drink plenty of water, be calm, and do not exercise. Do not drink alcohol or smoke prior to and during the tour. We also recommend you carry a strip of diamox tablets. Do consult your physician on the dosage. We provide a Gamow bag (a special equipment to prevent sickness from high altitude) on this tour.
The unit of Chinese currency is Yuan. USD 1 = 6.00 Yuan. 1 Yuan = INR 10.00 approx. Money can be exchanged at the Nepal Tibet Border. Re-exchange all your remaining Yuan at the end of the trip at the border itself before re-entering Nepal.
Golden Buddha Nepal Tours and Travels Pvt. Ltd and its associates will put every effort to make your journey smooth and pleasant. Additional Important Information for Heli trip to Kailash Manasarovar Yatra Based on our experience and reactions of the pilgrims of the above said group, we are, hereby, communicating to you once again about such unpredictable climatic disturbance in heli trips to Kailash. We operate trips in regular flights between these stations and the trip is dependent on the operation of those regular flights/helicopter trips. However, we are sharing with you the additional expenses which may incur during the trip in such unforeseen situations.
Know about Nepalganj – This is a small town at India-Nepal border (200 kms from Lucknow) with more facilities and infrastructure. All flights to Simikot depart from here only. Nepalganj and Simikot are not connected by road hence flight is the only option. Flights from Nepalganj to Simikot are small aircrafts operated by local airlines. Even in minor climatic disturbance these flights get delayed or cancelled for safety reasons and it is totally at the discretion of the local authorities and flight operators. We do not bear any liability for such delays and/or cancellations.
Know about Simikot – Simikot is a very small hill settlement in Nepal and a point of air connection between Hilsa and Nepalganj. Simikot is a better place in terms of living climatic conditions and service standard, as compared with Hilsa. The flight connectivity between Nepalganj to Simikot and Simikot to Hilsa is totally dependent on weather conditions, which is beyond our control. In the event of climatic problems, flight cancellations, flight delays or any other unforeseen situation our team will help you in managing accommodation, food and other services which will be on direct payment basis.
Know about Hilsa – Hilsa is a deserted border town in Nepal, close to the China border from where pilgrims enter to visit Kailash Mansarovar. In the event when the pilgrims get stuck at Hilsa due to climatic conditions, flight delays etc the facilities of accommodation, food, medical etc are very limited. Longer delays are also expected in rare cases as faced in many trips. Managing with the best available resources is the only option we get at Hilsa and discomfort is very obvious at this place especially if the halt gets longer than expected. The accommodation at Hilsa is in backcountry style and available food will be very basic (rice, noodles, soup, local water etc).
The unpredictable weather conditions and other limitations with the flights operating between these sectors mentioned above, sometimes causes short or long delays in onward and/or return journey to/from Kailash Manasarovar, making the situation little tough and we only can wait for our turn to get the flight to next destination.
All notices of cancellation must be sent to our office in writing. Verbal cancellations will not be entertained. 20 days before trip departure 10% of total trip cost. 15 days before trip departure 50% of total trip cost. 10 days before trip departure 90% of total trip cost. 07 days and less departure 100% of total trip cost
